ColdQuanta has just announced it has been awarded $1M from NASA’s Civilian Commercialization Readiness Pilot Program (CCRPP). The program will enable ColdQuanta to develop significantly smaller cold atom systems with a high level of ruggedness. This award expands on the success of ColdQuanta’s Quantum Core technology which was developed with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and is currently operating aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

ColdQuanta’s Quantum Core technology uses ultra-cold atoms cooled to a temperature of nearly absolute zero using lasers to manipulate and control the atoms with extreme precision. The company manufactures components, instruments, and turnkey systems that address a broad spectrum of applications ranging from timekeeping and navigation to quantum computing, and from radio-frequency (RF) receivers to quantum communications systems.
