Amazon AWS announces new Quantum Computing Service (Amazon Braket) along with AWS Center for Quantum Computing and AWS Quantum Solutions Lab.
It had been hardly a secret for weeks but now it’s disclosable. At Swiss Quantum Hub, we deeply believe this announcement might be as (more?) important for the quantum community than the Google quantum supremacy buzz. Just look at the boost of startups, services and corporate use cases when Amazon launched its AI services in the Cloud (and Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure too).
New Amazon Braket service lets customers explore, evaluate, and experiment with quantum computing hardware to gain in-house experience as they plan for the future. It is a new, fully managed AWS service that enables scientists, researchers, and developers to begin experimenting with computers from quantum hardware providers (including D-Wave, IonQ, and Rigetti) in a single place.
AWS establishes also the AWS Center for Quantum Computing to accelerate the development of quantum computing technologies and applications. It will bring together quantum computing experts from Amazon, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and other top academic research institutions to collaborate on the research and development of new quantum computing technologies.
AWS launches the new Amazon Quantum Solutions Lab connects customers with quantum computing experts at AWS, academia, and industry partners to collaborate on experiments and develop quantum applications. The program will connect customers with quantum computing experts from Amazon and its technology and consulting partners to develop internal expertise aimed at identifying practical uses of quantum computing, and accelerating the development of quantum applications with meaningful impact.
