IBM uses quantum computing to generate Minecraft-like game levels

This is a proof of concept by IBM that hints at how quantum computing could generate Minecraft-like scenes, levels or even complete video games that are better than the ones we have today.

For example, to build an island, IBM extracts this randomness and converts it into a height map – essentially a topographic map of all of the high and low points in the game’s terrain. Trees and other elements can be built in the same way and generating the whole island takes around a minute. Using quantum computers could make those random elements seem more natural.
